When the first fault is detected, the fault memory item is recorded. If this defect is recognized again during the second driving cycle, the exhaust warning light is activated. However, activation of this exhaust warning light is suppressed because the diagnosis itself is blocked after the first fault detection. Therefore, since the diagnosis is not performed a second time, additional diagnostics for the catalytic converter and lambda sensor are also blocked, which may result in exhaust-related defects not being displayed to the customer and the exhaust warning light not being activated, leading to a potential recall.
