However, it has been confirmed that after delivery, the customer may have installed a sports or M sports steering wheel equipped with a TAKATA airbag from the replacement parts approved by BMW. The steering wheel in question is equipped with an airbag inflator that uses ammonium nitrate, and if the vehicle is exposed to high temperature and humid conditions for an extended period, the propellant in the inflator may have deteriorated. In such cases, in the event of an accident, the driver's front airbag may deploy abnormally, causing the inflator body to rupture, and it has been confirmed that there is a possibility of injury to the driver, leading to a recall.
